Christian Musicals from The Faithful Troubadour Publications
THE FAITHFUL TROUBADOUR PUBLICATIONS is a Gospel-centered publishing ministry, specializing in writing Christian musical scripts that bring Biblical truths to life in a relatable, modern way. Our aim is to connect cast and audience to Christ through the art of musical theatre in partnership with schools, churches, and theatres around the world.

Playwright's Note

The overall tone of ACT I is to be vibrant and fun, ending with the heart-wrenching reality of Shame. ACT II continues in the same spirit, but more clearly driven by the mystery and message. While not always explicitly stated, ensemble members can serve as back-up dancers and singers during all numbers, even solos and duets.

The focal message of FRACTURED is to help audience members understand the Gospel more deeply, that Jesus alone can save us from sin and God’s wrath, and He empowers Christians to be obedient to God and fight sin. It is advised that parents also be aware that FRACTURED deals with themes of mental illness, depression, and suicide from a Christ-centered perspective.

Depression and suicide are often overlooked in Christian communities and churches, but it is a rising epidemic in today’s youth, and one we hope to fight with the hope found only in Christ. We pray that FRACTURED will start a dialogue in families that will prepare and arm youth with truth to fight against depression and mental illness, and create trust between youth and their parents when depression or suicidal thoughts arise.

We believe in the urgency of this secondary message of FRACTURED because 70% of youth between the ages 12-17 will suffer a depressive episode lasting an average of 8 months, 12% have minor depression at this very moment, 8% struggle with depression once a year, 5% are having a major depression at this moment, 2% suffer from Dysthymia (chronic depression) and of those, 15% will develop bipolar disorder. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause in the deaths of people between the ages of 10 and 24, 90% of which are a result of depression; 14% of ages 13-18 consider suicide each year, 11% make a plan, 6% attempt, but less than half receive treatment.

We hope that you will approach FRACTURED with prayerfulness and with sensitive hearts to those who will be impacted by the message of the show, and that they might be led to Christ for hope.
